More than 6000 people visited the new Natural Science Museum: Blau Musem (Barcelona), the museum is located in the Forum Building and presents a heritage collection formed over a period of 132 years.
Unlike many modern science museums, which have to start from zero and build up their collections, the Natural Science Museum of Barcelona possesses heritage collections formed over a period of 132 years and which today amount to over 3 million specimens of great scientific and historical value.
The benchmark exhibition «Planet Life» commences at its very core, 'The Earth today', which is the part showing the Museum's heritage collection and that takes up most of the exhibition area. 2011 will see the inauguration of the other parts of this exhibition, which were designed as semi-permanent, renewable areas: 'The biography of Earth' and 'Life laboratories'.
The former, 'The biography of Earth, will describe a journey through the history of life and its evolution in tandem with our planet. 'Life laboratories' will be small, renewable exhibitions in isolated areas within the aforementioned exhibition, covering topics such as evolution, nomenclature and classification, the Mediterranean, animal behaviour, reproduction, conservation, ecology, natural resources, genetics, etc.
